Terra Carta Design Lab — Sally Fouts Interview
Produced and filmed in Seattle for Atomized Studios and RE:TV’s coverage of King Charles III’s Sustainable Markets Initiative, 2022.
In spring 2022, Atomized Studios hired Kaifilms to produce and film a Seattle interview for an RE:TV project connected to the Terra Carta initiative. Our subject was Sally Fouts, Global Leader of The Climate Pledge at Amazon.
I served as both the local producer and cinematographer. I assembled the crew, planned the schedule, developed the visual approach, and made sure the camera, lighting, and sound departments were all working toward the same thing.
A strong interview begins long before the camera rolls. My real job was to create a space where Sally could relax, speak naturally, and explain a complex global mission in a clear and personal way. Her PR representative helped shape the conversation, and the collaboration worked beautifully. We started ahead of schedule, captured additional takes for safety, and still wrapped early.
There was added pressure knowing our work was contributing to an international project connected to the Sustainable Markets Initiative. But once the lights were set and the interview began, everything became simple again: one person telling a meaningful story.
That is what I love about producing interviews. When everything works, the equipment disappears and a real conversation takes its place.
